About Details

 

Details Hair Salon was opened on September 26th, 1990 by Christina Ankeney and Barbara Iacometti. Barbara and Christina first met at the Sunshine Factory Hair Salon in Ocean Beach in 1979. "By 1983 we worked side by side at a booth rental salon called It's Time Hair Design." says Christina. Later, the pair moved together to an Aveda Concept salon in La Jolla. "I was a educator for Aveda traveling all over San Diego, Orange County and the Inland Empire teaching product knowledge classes for salons as well as doing platform work at hair shows," says Barbara of her job working for local Aveda distributor Rising Beauty Products.

Christina and Barbara built their business together by attending numerous educational classes and shows. "In 1985 we attended a business class that altered our direction," remembers Christina. Barbara realized "during our time working together we had the same ideas about how to treat our guests and run a business." They were also both ready to get back to Ocean Beach so they started looking for locations and making plans for their own Aveda Concept salon. The two attended their first Aveda Congress festival in September of 1990 and returned home to open Details Hair Salon.

In the last 22 years Details has grown, expanded and added spa services- changing our name to Details SalonSpa.

We have continued to be one of the top Aveda salons in San Diego, and have attended every single Aveda congress Festival since we opened- at times sending over 15 members of our staff to this amazing educational opportunity at Aveda headquarters in Minneapolis.
